Going Positive
Going Positive planting projects are additional investments in biodiverse forests restoration to deal with carbon debt and ecosystem resilience. Check out our planting projects pages or offset project map to find out more about Climate Positive's offsets and planting projects.
Climate Positive does not support planting trees as carbon offsets
Offsets should prevent carbon-dioxide release and assist in the move to a low-carbon future through building renewable energy infrastructure - replanting biodiverse forests on cleared land is a positive measure to deal with historical carbon debt.
Climate Positive believes that atmospheric carbon levels are already too high, and this is already damaging agriculture, water security, biodiversity and economies around the planet. We believe that in addition to measuring, reducing and offsetting carbon footprints through permanent accredited emission reduction offsets from renewable energy projects, that we also need to draw that historical carbon debt from the atmosphere and store it in soils and forests.
Going Positive commitment
We replant permanently protected, biodiverse forests on cleared land to deal with historical carbon debt, and to build ecosystem resilience in the face of climate change. For every tonne of carbon offset with Climate Positive, we will purchase and surrender a tonne of accredited abatement, and plant 4m2 of forest of cleared land on Trust for Nature covenanted properties.
Trust for Nature covenants are legally and permanently protecting forests for future generations. This will preserve the biodiversity and carbon benefits of Going Positive planting projects.
Climate Positive has developed a number of planting policies to guide our land selection, planting processes and species selection.
Going Positive project partners
include Trust for Nature, Australian Ecosystems and the West Gippsland Catchment Management Authority.
