Climate Positive appoints ex-Committee for Melbourne executive as its new General Manager
Danielle Johnston has recently been appointed as General Manager for Climate Positive. Danielle was formerly in the role of steering the Committee for Melbourne's Climate Change Taskforce, which involved more than 80 Melbourne organizations. She believes this work has prepared her perfectly for the job of motivating individuals and organisations to take action to reduce global warming.
"Climate Positive's position is that individual actions, no matter how small, are politically and socially potent and key to bringing about bigger shifts in policy - especially around reducing active emissions via low-emissions technology. Faced with an opportunity to join Climate Positive in this quest, I jumped at the chance," she said.
Commenting on the appointment, Climate Positive Chairman, Brendan Condon, said the organisation was thrilled to have a leader of Danielle's experience and skill."We're very proud of what Climate Positive has achieved in the past three years, but with Danielle's assistance, we're looking forward to having an even bigger impact through increased offset partnerships and through providing education and leadership on the solutions to combat climate change," he said.
At Climate Positive, Danielle will manage a team of skilled staff assisting individuals and organisations to measure, reduce and offset their carbon footprint to combat global warming. Climate Positive currently performs this function for close to 60 business and 170 individual partners, investing in only accredited offset projects with a focus on infrastructure and renewable energy to offset partner's emissions, and moving Australia toward a carbon-zero future.
