Able Plastics
Becoming Climate Positive in July 2007, Able Plastics offset carbon emissions with accredited emission reduction projects, with additional investment in the Strzelecki Ranges replanting site.
Able Plastics is conscious of doing what it can to preserve the environment. To this end, it has commissioned its annual CO2 emissions to be externally audited.
In arriving at a total tonnage of CO2 Able has taken into consideration all local and overseas manufacturing operations, shipping, freight, cars and office and warehouse electricity. The total 2007 footprint was 1182 tonnes of CO2.
Able has taken simple steps to reduce CO2 emissions, for example, signing up for Origin Energy's green power, distributing 6 packs of compact fluorescent lights to all staff and turning off printers and monitors at night rather than leaving them on standby. In addition to reducing emissions, they are also offsetting 130% of remaining CO2 through Climate Positive.
In offsetting with accredited renewable offsets, and the additional investment in restoring a diverse range of native trees, Able Plastics, in partnership with Climate Positive, is also assisting in creating other environmental benefits including the reduction of soil salinity, the restoration of habitat for native birds and wildlife and the reduction of soil erosion.
